Since the COVID pandemic, the cleanliness of a restaurant has been even more important to consumers.
According to Technomic’s Consumer Brand Metrics, 93% of consumers say restaurant cleanliness is important or very important. If you are not taking steps to be sure your restaurant is clean, you are at serious risk of losing customers.
Use this helpful checklist:
- Focus on frequently cleaning high-contact areas including counters, tables and chairs. Make a cleaning schedule for areas that need to be cleaned daily, weekly and monthly.
- Make sure your staff washes hands regularly and wears gloves. Also consider masks.
- For delivery orders, give customers confidence by using tamper-resistant stickers on your pizza box and containers.
- On salad bars or buffets, be sure to place sneeze guards or shields above the food for food safety.
- For safety, remove items like straws, lemons and condiments from self serve stations.
Put yourself in the place of your customer visiting your restaurant. Do you like what you see? If not, note what improvements need to be made and create an action plan to deliver an enjoyable experience.
